Reflections on 2025
Another year of evolution has passed, with the theme of ‘Becoming’. Through novel experiences, I’ve bloomed with confidence to live life fully, not be a passenger through it. I’ve embraced challenges that’ve unlocked untapped potential and boldness. I am creating my own stage, and owning the space with authentic presence and nurtured self-trust. I’ve learnt to see and treat myself as a priority; honouring needs and my intuition don’t wait anymore. You shine bright; no one can dim your light.
I am eight months into writing my debut novella. To date, it’s the most difficult writing project as it’s an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure book.
I delivered a public speech at a queer showcase event. Initial nerves faded as I entered the flow state, telling myself that it is my stage and I can own it. I will never forget the standing ovation, whistling and cheers upon my conclusion.
I experienced my first solo trip in Canada, visiting three cities - Toronto, Gatineau/Ottawa and Montreal. My memory bank is rich for this trip, including being atop the CN Tower, bungee jumping, Niagara Falls, co-facilitating songwriting workshops and spending time with Canadian friends.
I recorded my original song, The Noise of Sh!T’ in Canada. It was a game-changing experience - the process of studio recording and co-working with musicians to fulfil my creative vision. This will be released soon.
I presented at a Canadian academic conference in the queer research sector.
I spent three months doing placement at a special developmental school. This opened my eyes to the different challenges and needs diverse students have.
I have entered my first healthy romantic relationship; it is refreshing. I feel proud of myself and him for building this together.
I've built the audacity to unmask more, and invited others to follow suit. It is a reclamation.
Regardless of what life presents itself with, I trust myself to thrive from it. I'm ready for trials and tribulations. I'm showing up as the best version of me to date, and I can only go up from here. Bring on the rest of 2025 and 2026. 🤟🏼
